Aptera in the House

The Aptera is a highly streamlined and lightweight electric car. It has a range of 100 miles after a short two hour charge. It gets up to 60 mph in 10 seconds and has a top speed of 90 miles per hour. And best of all, you can buy this futuristic beast today!

  1. This post is misleading -- you can *not* buy the Aptera today. It has been slow to come to production, which had been announced to begin over a year ago, then moved to October of 2009, and now with no announced initial delivery date. They're even still working on setting up a manufacturing facility. You can *reserve* a car, *if* you live in California (non-California residents need not apply), but the line of people in front of you for the reservations is several thousand deep. When the car finally starts (if) being sold, it will be a while before they'll get to producing the car you might have ordered (if you are ordering now).

Also, the stats of the car aren't solidified. Two hour charge? Their marketing website says nothing of the sort. They claim you can plug it into 110V at night, and the car will be ready in the morning. Definitely not two hours.
